Hey guys, today I am not going to post a lesson. I am a high school student and the payload of studies has increased ten fold since 8th grade. So the next time i will post will most likely be on Friday or Saturday. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Have a blessed day!

Writing Expressions:
These key words will help you with word problems:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
+ (add, more than, increased by, sum, exceeds, gain, total, in all, plus.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- (subtract, difference, less than, decreased by, minus, subtracted from, reduced by.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
x (times, multiplied, product, of, twice, triple, double.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
/ (divided by, quotient, ratio.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
exponent (raised to, times itself, squared, cubed.)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
example:
1) what is the quotient of 6 and 3?
2) what is the sum of 900 and 34?
3) f less than 9?
The answers-
1) 6 / 3 = 2
2) 900 + 34 = 934
3) 9 - f
I hope you understood this. If not, please leave me a comment!
Thanks!

Hi, here is the answer to the brain teaser question! (sorry I am late with the answer, I was delayed by studies at school)
The question was What is the product of 5 multiplied by 6 divided by 3?
The answer is:
Product means multiplied so, 5 x 6 = 30, then we divide 30 / 3 = 3
The answer is three (3)
I will post the lesson for this very soon, possibly today!
See you later!

Here is the solution/answer to the brain teaser question of this week:
9 x 1 / 3 + 4 - 1 / 7 = ?
I am going to put parenthesis to make it easier to understand.
(9 x 1) / 3 + 4 - (1 x 7) = ?
Remember order of operations when you do this.
First multiply:
9 / 3 + 4 - 7 = ?
Then divide:
3 + 4 - 7 =?
Finally add and subtract left to right:
7 - 7 = 0
The answer is zero!
I hope you enjoy the brain teaser, the next one is coming Tuesday, September 3, 2013.

Order of Operations:
How do you do a question like this?
[(9-4)x(5+2)+5-17].
I cant do a problem like this unless I had a set of directions. The solution is called "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally!" This phrase is an easier way of remembering:
[(9-4)x(5+2)+5-17].
I cant do a problem like this unless I had a set of directions. The solution is called "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally!" This phrase is an easier way of remembering:
P- simplify inside the parenthesis
E- evaluate the exponents
MD- multiply ans divide, left to right
AS- add and subtract, left to right
It is vital that you memorize that. You will need it in Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry.
Here is an example:
3(5) + 4 - 1 First multiply 3(5)
15 + 4 - 1 Add and subtract from left to right
19 - 1
18
